We did it!

It came down to the wire, but we did it! Together, we raised $40,293 for Hurley Children’s Hospital over the holidays. With no Vote for Miracles, our local credit unions really stepped up to help us raise the much needed money. Dort Federal Credit Union and ELGA Credit Union both gave $5000 matches. Financial Plus gave a $4000 match and Sovita joined the three credit unions in getting their staff, customers, friends and families to donate too.

Dort bought glow sticks for people to wave at our Glow for Miracles event, ELGA made tie blankets to keep pediatric patients cozy and Financial Plus donated mamaRoos to sooth NICU babies. It was a team effort for sure and it felt great to all work together.

Hurley Children’s Hospital took over Social Media for a month, posting lots of photos answering the question “What is Santa doing today?” We saw Santa feeding babies, reading to kids, pulling wagons to surgery, playing Virtual Reality with patients and even folding laundry for a mom! A peds nurse manager told us how her staff collects bottles to buy items for patients. We went to pediatric rehab to see how donations are spent. We talked with Laura Parcels about wanting special pads for special needs patients to put their hands on for development.

Our Santa NICU video got more than 70,000 views and raised $1600 on Facebook. We had people giving what they could whether it was $5 or $1000. Those that couldn’t give, shared posts to spread awareness.

The whole campaign was a great way to connect with the community. It is a community that always comes through for our kids and we are so honored. Thank-you to every single person who had a part in reaching our goal. Every penny will be used to make our youngest patients as comfortable as possible when they are with us.
