Extra Life Game Plan

With Extra Life Game Day coming up November 2nd, Mid-Michigan teams are starting to make plans to raise money for Hurley Children’s Hospital.

Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised over $50 million for sick and injured kids. If video games are your thing, great. If board games are your style, great. Lawn games? Sure. Robotics, sports even mind games! You play and local sick kids win.

For several years, gamer Chip Cheezum and his team played video games during a 24 hour live stream. The first year, his fans helped him raise more than $25,000! In 2017 they raised more than $30,000. Last year, they raised more than $40,000! Each year their efforts grew and impacted Hurley Children’s Hospital. They funded an exam room at the Sumathi Mukkamala Children’s Center at the Flint Farmers’ Market and a teen game room on Hurley’s 11th floor.

This year, we could use some new teams to take on that commitment!

We are excited for the 6th annual DTV Con! Down the Vent is hosting a 2 Day Board Game Convention at the Comstock Inn and Conference Center in Owosso November 2nd & 3rd. A badge grants you access to check out one of their 700+ games for open play and the option to sign up for events. Badges are only $25 (or $20 if you pre-register) and allow entrance on both Saturday and Sunday. They also have a Family Pass available. The Family Pass includes Sunday badges for two adults and two children for only $20. Single day badges are also available ($15 for Saturday or $10 for Sunday). They’ll be holding a raffle with tons of prizes to give away!

As you can see, Extra Life is important in Mid-Michigan. It doesn’t take much. If you love to play games, why not turn that fun into an opportunity to raise money for our local kids. You can give families hope!
