9-Year-Old Children’s Miracle Network Champion Joins the Team at Costco Midland for a Day

This year, Costco is just committing to helping sick kids. On Tuesday, May 24th the team at Costco warehouse #1420 in Midland, Michigan opened their doors to Hurley Children’s Hospital’s 2022 CMN champion, Charlie.

During her visit, Charlie got to see what it was like to be a #Costco employee for the day… and even got her very own name tag and a little red vest!

From helping customers on the front end, to watching delicious chicken get cooked in a giant rotisserie (32 at a time…GASP) it was a blast learning all about our local Costco warehouse.

Charlie came to Hurley Children’s Hospital with MIS-C, a post COVID-19 immunity disorder which causes the heart, lungs and other organs to become inflamed. Although terrifying for her parents, with Hurley innovations, she had the best turnaround doctors had seen mentally and physically.

While there are a handful of children’s hospitals in Michigan, there is only one Children’s Miracle Network hospital north of Detroit, and that’s Hurley Children’s Hospital. Working with partners like Costco means we are able to positively impact outcomes for pediatric patients from throughout mid-Michigan, including the hundreds of children we treat from Midland and its surrounding counties.

As the only teaching hospital in 15 counties, Hurley Children’s Hospital is leading in treatment and technology to give children the best chance of recovery and wellbeing. That critical support not only guarantees families access to care, but access to that highest level when only the best will do.

So give at the register when you visit Costco-Midland in May, and when you do, realize you’ll be impacting the thousands of pediatric patient families treated at #HurleyChildrensHospital each year.

It was SO inspiring to see how people in the #Midland community and beyond are doing their part to help heal kids like her at their local CMN hospital this month at #Costco.

The funds they are raising help ensure Hurley will always be here to care for the kids.
