Speedway a Miracle for Archer

“My name is Archer Granger. I’m 14 years old. I live in Lapeer Michigan and I go to Hurley Children’s Hospital.”

Archer Granger is a miracle and he is thankful to share his miracle story. He was run over by an industrial lawnmower when he was 5 years old. It severed his right foot and he lost a toe and a half on his left foot. He was in the hospital for 19 days and has had 5 surgeries.

“You’re not going to walk away perfect, but I walked away lucky.”

Archer not only walked away, he is now in his high school marching band!

It has been an incredible journey of recovery – one that that been helped by the generosity of Speedway. Archer was not only the Speedway Battle of Brave winner, securing $25,000 for Hurley Children’s Hospital, Speedway named him a miracle kid!

His mom Jen says, “The staff at Speedway, the Children’s Miracle Network coordinators through Speedway, Tony himself, they’re just all fantastic people.”

Archer adds, “They paid for my whole family to stay at Great Wolf Lodge resort. As an 8-9 year old that’s like getting million bucks or being a world champion for the NBA. It was a fantastic time, especially the commercial. Getting to meet all those people, you know, being treated like a rock star, that was really cool. I wasn’t just this random kid, I was Archer Granger, the Miracle Child.”

Speedway invited Archer to be a Miracle Kid for the Speedway Miracle Tournament. It was a life altering experience. Then, Speedway invited him back again this year.

“They do make them feel very special” Jen says. “These kids, they have gone through a lot and I think the people at Speedway just have a lot of admiration for them.”
