Miracle Monday – Darcey Bard

Brother and sister leukemia. Sister to sister donor.

Darcey Bard was just 11 years old when she got some really bad news on May 23, 2003. She found out she had leukemia. Darcey was diagnosed seven years to the day as her older brother with the same kind of cancer. Her family rallied around her and filled her with energy and a positive spirit that was contagious.

It was determined Darcey’s best chance for long-term survival was a bone marrow transplant. Her sister, Amanda, was her donor! The procedure was done at Children’s Hospital in Detroit.

Today, Darcey is healthy and living life to the fullest in Atlanta. It comes as no surprise that she has pursued a career as a hair stylist. She remembers how it felt to lose her hair during chemotherapy and takes pleasure in helping other women look beautiful. #WeBelieveInMiracles!
