Hurley Paints Town Blue to Prevent Child Abuse

Hurley Children’s Hospital takes extra care in helping children who have been hurt by abuse. We now have a special treatment room that will allow them to tell their story one time, instead of reliving it over and over again to emergency crews and investigators.

This month, the hospital is joining organizations across Genesee County to bring awareness to child abuse, and to hopefully prevent it. More than 200,000 cases of child abuse are filed in the United States every year. Genesee County has the fourth highest child death rate in Michigan.

Hurley has put up blue pinwheels around the hospital as part of the Paint The Town Blue campaign.

When you see blue this month, it should encourage you to speak up against abuse.
The pinwheels are also designed to bring children hope.
