Miracle Monday – Max Williams

Miracle Max

Ron and Liz (Wenstrom) Williams were thrilled to be expecting their first child – a BOY! But not all pregnancies are textbook. Liz had a difficult pregnancy, had polyhydramnios, and Maxwell (Max) Paul Williams was born one month early via C-Section at Hurley Medical Center on March 3, 2015. Emotions ran high as he was rushed to Hurley’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Weighing in at 7 pounds, 2 ounces Max looked huge compared to some of the tiny fighters in this unit.

The medical team determined that he needed to be monitored for fluid on his lungs, low bilirubin, jaundice, and not holding down bottle-fed breast milk. It was three long days before Liz could even hold her baby. She took comfort in knowing that Max was in the best place possible.

“We are so blessed because of Hurley. Hurley’s NICU nurses bring more than making sure everything is medically sound,” Liz said. “They bring comfort, love, hugs, tissues for tears, blankets when you’ve been sitting for hours, and security when you have to leave.”

Today, Max is a bright, inquisitive, fun-loving child who loves to “help the babies at Hurley.” He’ll be graduating from Kindergarten and for Max, the sky’s the limit!
