Members of CU4Kids Advisory Council Donate Diaper Bags to Hurley’s Labor and Delivery Unit

What could be more special than honoring the birth of a child? When the Labor & Delivery unit at Hurley recently expressed a need for an item that could be given to parents and their new babies to commemorate their special birth experience, several area credit unions stepped up to help.

Six members of Hurley Children’s Hospital’s Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids) Advisory Council worked in conjunction with CO-OP Financial Services to raise more than $30,000 for the Labor & Delivery unit at  their local Children’s Miracle Network hospital.

Donations from the following organizations helped fund the Baby’s First Bag special project: Dort Financial Credit Union, ELGA Credit Union, Financial Plus Credit Union, Frankenmuth Credit Union, PFCU Credit Union, Team One Credit Union, CO-OP Financial Services Miracle Match Program, and the Flint Chapter of the Michigan Credit Union League.

This funding has been used to purchase Baby’s First Bag; a backpack style diaper bag which will be given to each new baby born at Hurley in 2022.

“Our hope is that these diaper bags will serve as a positive reminder of the birthing journey new families experience at Hurley, and of  the wonderful credit unions in our community who seek to support and serve them,” said Brooklyn Kennings, Assistant Director for CMN Programs.

On Tuesday, December 21st, representatives from each credit union listed above teamed up with volunteers from the Hurley Foundation to pack these custom diaper bags so that they would be ready for the new year. These bags contain newborn essentials and helpful information for Hurley families and their new babies to take home with them after their visit.

We are so grateful for our #CU4Kids family and are constantly inspired by how much they care for Hurley kids!
