mamaRoos Bring Comfort

Financial Plus Credit Union is soothing babies in the Hurley Children’s Hospital NICU and giving families peace of mind. They’ve donated 5 mamaRoos which rock babies and play bluetooth and mimic soothing sounds. The mamaRoos will be used to help calm the babies. They will be a great comfort to parents who can’t be with their newborns 24/7.

Olga Long, Financial Plus VP of Marketing says, “Our employees are wearing volunteer shirts that say FPCU loves you. We really do care about the community.”

“These mamaRoos will provide countless hours of comfort for our babies, said Aimee Datsko, NICU Nurse Manager. “We admit over 700 babies to our unit a year. It’s going to provide comfort to the families as well because they’re going to know when they have to leave their babies behind, they’re going to have this type of comfort for them.”

Some of the Financial Plus staff might need the mamaRoos themselves. In the marketing department alone, one person has just had a baby, one is expecting and one will be delivering at Hurley this week! They understand the need is great this year for donations. “When we heard about the Glow for Miracles not happening this year, we were very excited to join the rest of the local credit unions in raising funds,” said Rachel Mouse, Financial Plus Marketing Director. “We know how important Glow for Miracles was for the children here at Hurley.”

Financial Plus is matching $5000 in donations for the cause. “This is the time to donate.  I think each of us can reach deep and reach into our wallet,” said Long. “Even if it’s just a little, if you combine funds with others, it is amazing what you can do. And, each of us do have the capacity to give.”
